Annual Update

Ok, so it has been over a year since I posted!! Bad Nikki!! Where does the time go!!

We are well into the new school year. Cristian has entered Grade 3 and Mateo just started JK!!
Cristian is doing really well at school, rarely bringing home homework. He is on the cross-country team at school as well. Outside of school Cristian is playing hockey and taking swimming lessons. He recently tried out and made the Tier 1 baseball rep team so he is very excited about that. He will start training for that in January. Cristian will turn 8 next month and we are already busy discussing birthday party plans. He wants to see the new James Bond movie but I'm not so sure his friends would be allowed. I am leaning more towards a sleepover party!! We will see!!

As I mentioned before Mateo started JK this year and he loves it!! He calls it his "big" school. We have already had a couple of incidents. He came home his first day with no underwear on. Apparently he had an accident at school and hid his underwear behind the toilet at school and didn't tell his teacher!! It was a little embarrassing explaining that one!! Last week he was sent to the office for fighting so hopefully that is not going to be a regular occurence. Other than that he likes school!! Outside of school, Mateo is also taking swimming lessons. He also played soccer over the summer and he did really well. Going after the ball and scoring lots of goals. On his off days from school he goes to the home daycare with his younger brother.

Finally there is William. He is still attending the home daycare and I think he is a little put out on the days that Mateo doesn't go with him. He misses his big brother. He still likes to follow them around and copy what they do. He loves to play skateboards with his brother's Tech Dechs!! He is also taking swimming lessons with me. We had the first one last week, Victor took him as I had to work but I will doing from now on.

Things are really slow for Victor right now at work. He is on mandatory no overtime and occasionally they have only a 4 day week. It is making finances tough but we are trying to make do. He is taking a course right now to obtain his electrician's certification which will definitely be good to have for the future.

As for me things are pretty slow at work. We are waiting for the go ahead from a few sponsors so that we can proceed with the studies. I did a half hour lecture last week talking about GLP to some grad students in my boss' class. That was really nerve wracking and definitely out of my comfort zone but I did it!! I also started in a womens basketball league. We had our first game last night and we lost 43-30. I am a little sore today because of it!! If only my foul shots went in. I was 1 for 8 dismal!! Our team seems good though. We will see.

Ontario Place

Yesterday we went on a family trip to Ontario Place which is located one hour away in Toronto, Ontario. There was lots of things to do there for the whole family. First we went to the kiddie rides for Mateo. Unfortunately Cristian was a little big for some of these rides for they were perfect for Mateo. He went on bumper boats, ferris wheel, car coaster and jeep driving!! Then we had our picnic lunch.

Next it was off to the waterpark. They had four waterslides and a huge splash park area. Victor and I split up at that point. I went on the waterslides with Cristian and Victor stayed in the splash area with Mateo and William. Cristian and I had fun going down the waterslides, we only chickened out of one. It was called the Hydrofuge. Riders shoot down a tube on a thin sheet of water reaching speeds of up to 50 kph, then swirl around in a gigantic bowl and plunge into a six foot deep landing pool. Someone compared it to going down the toilet! LOL! Then Victor took Cristian and Mateo on a raft waterslide while I stayed with William who was having a nap.

After the waterpark we went to see an IMAX movie and hit some more rides!! We even went into a maze that started in a hall of mirrors in the dark. It was really freaky, there were seven different mazes both indoor and outdoor in total. William got scared in the mirror maze though.

We stayed into the evening and got to see the Chinese Lantern Festival. It was amazing! There were lots of huge displays that all came to life with lights when the sun went down. The displays depicted Chinese landmarks and mythology. This year the majority of the lantern sets focussed on three important dynasties in Chinese history; the Qin Dynasty, the Tang Dynasty, and the Song Dynasty. We got to have Chinese food from the Mandarin market and we walked around to see the diplays. It was really nice.

Needless to say the kids were exhausted by the end of the day but it was lots of fun! I am going to try to attach some pictures too! Enjoy!

Here are the boys at the waterpark!

My First BLOG

Okay, here it goes! My first attempt at a blog!! I decided to try this out so it will give me a way of expressing my thoughts about my family, my life and my day to day experiences. I will be able to update my family and the many cyber friends that I have accumulated over the last 7 years!

Victor is my husband and best friend. We have been married almost 8 years and have known each other for over 10 years. He is a terrific father to our three boys never judging and always there to help them out. He loves to teach them how to make things with their hands and all about his tools! He is a great supporter of our family and never judges any of us.

Cristian is my eldest son (6 years old). He is very methodical in his way of thinking so he is very good at following direction and is good in math and science. He does need some encouragement to think outside the box however!! He must take after me. Being the oldest with two younger brothers I think is difficult for him because he is constantly trying to get me to baby him (ie. help him to get dressed in the morning). I don't know whether I should give in or try to reinforce big boy behaviour!! Cristian is definitely an outdoors guy. He is most happiest when he is outside riding his bike, scooter or skateboard. And the latest craze is bug catching!! He loves to get the grasshoppers!!

Mateo is the typical middle child (3 years old). He is always trying to ham it up to get attention. He loves to follow his big brother around and do whatever he is doing. He is left handed and is going to well in the sports. It is so cute to see him shoot with his left foot or throw with his left hand! He is very emotional and changes emotions quickly. He has very high highs and very low lows but luckily it changes quickly.

William is the baby (16 months old). He is just starting to find himself and his role in our family. He definitely knows how to get your attention and is starting a bad habit of biting. We are trying to nip that one in the bud! William also loves to play outside and already can hit the baseball off the tee. He loves to throw the ball too!!

These are my guys and in the weeks and months to come I will hopefully publish many comments and stories about my guys!!
